Neo
My name is Neo and I set up Treats For Kids at the end of 2020, when I was 8 years old, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I realised there were so many children going through a really tough time due to the pandemic and other reasons beyond their control so felt I wanted to do something to help and to put a smile on their faces. I love treats and believe that ALL children deserve treats no matter what their circumstances are.
What has been your journey so far?
Through my Treats For Kids appeals and fundraising I have donated over 7,800 treats to children via 12 different charities and organisations, including food banks, hospitals and hospices. Treats have included advent calendars and Easter eggs. I am planning a further appeal of advent calendars 2022 to give even more treats to children. Further details about my fundraising can be found on my website which I have put together by myself www.treatsforkids.co.uk
What have been the biggest obstacles you have encountered?
When running an appeal, you are never sure if people will still donate, especially now when times are hard for so many, but I am always amazed at how generous and supportive people are, even strangers. Also, sometimes it's hard finding the treats in my local supermarket if stocks are low so that can be difficult. Lastly finding the time to fit in Treats For Kids around schoolwork and other activities can be tricky especially now I am in Year 6.
Who inspired you to find courage and determination in the tough times?
My family! My mum, dad and little brother are so supportive and all help with Treats For Kids, they help me to keep going.
What is the most important lesson life has taught you so far?
To always be kind, helpful and to try your best. Little actions can make a big difference to other people.
What is your dream adventure?
I would love to travel around South America and visit Brazil and stay in the Amazon Rainforest because I love animals and nature. I would also love to go to Peru and visit Machu Picchu to see the ancient Inca ruins.
