Lennox Myres

My name is Lennox and I am nearly 8 years old.  I LOVE climbing, I have been doing it for 4 years. I am also a Beaver Scout with my big brother and my Mummy as my leader.

What has been your journey so far?

When I was four I went to a climbing centre, I was a bit scared and nervous.  I began to love it and my Mummy started climbing too so it became even more fun.  I learned how to boulder then wanted to climb really high.  For my sixth birthday I got to climb my first big wall.

Recently I decided to raise money for charity by doing a sponsored climb.  I wanted to help children who didn’t have a home or who had lost their family.  I climbed the equivalent of the Empire State building which is 443m high in a weekend and raised £1334.

What have been the biggest obstacles you have encountered?

The hardest bit was going back up the wall when I was tired.  I had to climb the wall 23 times.

Who inspired you to find courage and determination in the tough times?

My Mummy and Chris helped me when I was tired and grumpy, they helped me keep going when I wanted to give up.  Lots of people came to watch and that helped too.

What is the most important lesson life has taught you so far?

I’ve learned that by not giving up you can become stronger. I am learning how to lead climb and it is hard but I know I will get it.

What is your dream adventure?

One day I want to be able to raise lots more money by doing my climbing.  I would love to go climbing big mountains with lots of snow.
