Bear Grylls spent three years with the British Special Forces. During this time he had a horrendous parachuting accident in southern Africa, breaking his back in three places. Three years later, after severe rehabilitation, he overcame the odds to become the youngest British climber ever to reach the summit of Mount Everest. Bear Grylls is the new face for 'Sure For Men' deodorant commercials and is one of the youngest and most successful motivational speakers on the world circuit.

Climbing partner to Bear Grylls, Mick Crosthwaite successfully reached within 300 ft of the summit of Everest. At 28,500ft he ran out of oxygen. He was rescued but then fell almost 500ft, yet miraculously returned alive. A very strong and experienced expedition member.
Many years of marine experience in all conditions. Tough, ex-rower. Another vital member of the team. Nigel will be in charge of all of the electronics on the boat, from navigation to communications.

Charlie Laing
Lt. Andy Leivers
An experienced cameraman and documentary maker. Charlie's role will be to capture the highs and lows, the extremes and beauty along with those moments of inevitable fear of being so alone in a small boat in such vast seas.
Lt Andy Leivers (RN) will act as the Engineer on the team. A very personable and dedicated man, Andy brings a wealth of experience with him from over 12 years service with the Royal Navy. He is a vital part of this expedition.

Andrew Billing
Mike Town
Based in the UK, Andrew will be the teams' link back to civilisation. He will manage all the forecasting, website, and team communications in real-time. He brings a wealth of experience on technical issues to help the team.
Mike is one of the countries leading weather experts and will be providing the team will real-time forecasting by satellite phone from the UK to the
boat. His expertise will be invaluable and a critical component to the expedition.

Chloe Boyes
Alex Rayner, Liaison Media
Chloe will be helping the team with the huge amount of logistical organisation that is involved with getting such a record attempt like this under way. In truth, she keeps the team in order! Alex and his team will be coordinating Press and interviews for the expedition and also the events afterwards. These include the St Katherine's
Dock return party and the Royal Geographical Society evening in December.

Carol McFadden
An Americanlady, who will be accompanying the team on the first leg of the journey through the eastern canadian islands to Battle Harbour. She will be there to sample life as part of such an expedition and will be writing on that experience.
