Bear Grylls, the explorer planning to sail along the Arctic Circle in an open boat, was given seafaring advice yesterday by the Prince of Wales. He was invited to St James's Palace to discuss his latest adventure, which is in aid of The Princes Trust.

Part of the route been taken by Mr Grylls, the youngest Briton to scale Everest when he was 23, was experienced by the Prince during his Royal Navy days.
He said he had seen a steel ladder bent in half by the force of a wave while on duty near Iceland, and asked how the team would cope in similar conditions. "I said I would ring him for advice," said Mr Grylls. His team hopes to raise £50,000 for the charity.
