5th August - Labrador Sea

Location:
150 nautical miles South West of Greenland
Time:
2.15am GMT

Weather:

Heavy seas

Team Member:
On-Shore Team

Report:

Bear and the team have been battling through mountainous seas and relentless weather almost from the moment of leaving St Mary's Harbour, Labrador. The seas became extremely hazardous at the midway point of this crossing causing the Arnold & Son Explorer to use a lot more fuel than initially anticipated. The team is currently almost 150 miles due South West of Greenland still battling high seas and praying for calmer conditions.

The tracking system is still performing well, particularly considering the extreme environment.

We wish the team a safe arrival to Nanortalik where a full update of this leg of the expedition will be reported.

The team at base are in contact with Bear and the team at 6 hour intervals.
