We've
been in Nova Scotia for 24 hours and it's been a very intense
time of final preparations, press interviews, sponsor receptions
and stowing all the equipment on the boat. A replacement alternator
has been fitted on the engine as a back up, we've refuelled compliments
of the Danish Navy (many thanks for all your support) and have
been making sure all the equipment is lashed down tight ready
for the seas ahead. The weather forecast is looking promising
now with good weather predicted for the next few days which will
see us heading up towards our final Canadian port in Labrador.
This can be pretty treacherous water especially in the Bell Aisle
straight where ice is funnelled through, but at the moment it
is all looking clear for this first leg. |

General
Motors Canada (one of our lead sponsors) very generously hosted
a formal dinner for 500 people at the Halifax World Trade Centre
last night at which I spoke about the adventures ahead (although
I did feel pretty
exhausted as it was 3am jet lagged UK time when I got on stage!).
General Motors Canada have also organised the flotilla which will
be accompanying us out early tomorrow morning (Thursday 31st July). |

Feeling
mixed emotions of huge gratitude for the warm support from so
many people here in Halifax combined with intense trepidation
for all that the icy seas hold in store for us.
|
| |
3500
nautical miles remain between us and our families who it was so
hard to leave behind. |
